Sara Bonilla is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at WorldFish since September 2024 and a Graduate Research Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution since July 2023, collaborating on research projects in the Mesoamerican Reef. Prior experience includes serving as a Program Coordinator at the Centre for Marine Studies from February 2017 to December 2019, leading socioeconomic research projects in fishing communities. Earlier roles involved coordinating similar research projects at the Centre for Marine Ecology and working as a Research Assistant at Zamorano University, focusing on food security and sustainable livelihoods. Sara Bonilla holds a PhD in Rural Sociology and Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and the Environment from Penn State University (2020-2024), an MS in Sustainable International Agriculture from the University of Göttingen (2015-2016), and a BSc in Socioeconomic Development and Environmental Studies from Escuela Agrícola Panamericana Zamorano (2004-2007).
