Pierre Izard

Director, Technology, Innovation & Group Projects at SNCF

An alumnus of École Polytechnique and an engineer with the Corps des Ponts et Chaussées, Pierre Izard helped design the master plan for France’s transport infrastructure in the late 1980s. Later, he contributed to the master plan for high-speed rail links in France and Europe, and successfully managed the TGV Méditerranée project.

In 2006 he took the helm at SNCF’s Infrastructure unit (now a part of SNCF Réseau), where he managed rail traffic, coordinated network maintenance, and grew Infra’s engineering business in France and on international markets. In 2014 Mr Izard became SNCF’s Deputy CEO and Chief Technology and Rail Systems Officer.
