Sylvie Charles

A graduate of Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris and École Nationale d’Administration, Sylvie Charles has spent most of her professional life in freight transport and logistics. In 1988 she joined SNCF Group, serving first as Special Advisor to SNCF’s top management and later as Deputy Director for regional initiatives. In 1993 she became General Manager of Cariane Group, a passenger coach transport specialist, and in 1999 she was named Deputy Managing Director at Société Générale de Transport et d’Industrie. In 2001 she joined STVA, a group specializing in delivery of finished vehicles, becoming chair of its Management Board in 2004.

In February 2010 Ms Charles was named head of Fret SNCF, and she also managed the rail-sector businesses and service providers unit within SNCF Logistics. In 2014 she became CEO of TFMM, SNCF’s rail and multimodal freight subsidiary
