Amelia Kelly has a diverse work experience in the field of speech technology. Amelia is currently working at SoapBox Labs, where they hold the position of Chief Technology Officer since November 2022. Prior to this, they served as the VP of Speech Technology from January 2020 to December 2022 and as the Director of Speech Technology from January 2017 to December 2019. Amelia also worked as a Senior Speech Scientist at the same company from January 2015 to December 2016.
Before joining SoapBox Labs, Amelia worked at IBM Watson as a Watson Cognitive Computing Solution Engineer from 2014 to 2015, and at Fluential as a Senior Speech Recognition Engineer from 2012 to 2014. Amelia also had a research role at Trinity College Dublin, where they were involved in the abair.ie Irish speech synthesis project from 2007 to 2012. In addition, Amelia gained experience as a Speech Technology R&D Intern at Phonetic Arts in January to February 2010.
Amelia Kelly has a strong education background in the field of speech technology and linguistics. Amelia obtained a PhD in Speech Technology from Trinity College Dublin, where they studied from 2007 to 2011. Prior to their PhD, they completed an M.Phil in Linguistics at Trinity College Dublin from 2006 to 2007. Amelia also holds a B.Sc. degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Galway, which they obtained from 2000 to 2004.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Amelia has achieved the certification of Certified Scrum Product Owner® (CSPO®) from Scrum Alliance® in December 2019.
