Jenny Zhao

Associate Director, Communications at Social Finance

Jenny Zhao is the Associate Director of Communications at Social Finance, where she leads initiatives including thought leadership, digital marketing, content development, and communications for the CEO. She was editor of Workforce Realigned: How New Partnerships Are Advancing Economic Mobility, a book and podcast series on rebooting economic mobility in America, published with the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta and Philadelphia. She helped refresh Social Finance’s brand identity, driving the adoption of new messaging, positioning, and branding across the firm. She also launched the people of color affinity group at Social Finance and is actively involved in the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.

Most recently Jenny led digital marketing for MIT Solve, a social innovation initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology—including promoting Solve’s donor-advised fund—and served on the DEI task force. Before Solve, Jenny worked in marketing for a variety of startups in Boston, including serving as the Director of Digital Marketing for Clover Food Lab, a sustainable fast-casual chain with a mission to fight climate change. She also worked at the Harvard Business School Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness, managing a $4 million federal grant project with the U.S. Department of Commerce to promote regional economic development.

Jenny studied women’s and gender studies and history at Dartmouth College. In her free time, she is a wildlife photographer and Instagram influencer (@rogerandjennyphotography), capturing photos from her travels locally and internationally to shine a light on wildlife conservation. Her work has been published in National Geographic, BBC Earth, BBC News, Sony Alpha, Smithsonian Magazine, Mass Audubon, Africa Geo Magazine, Cape Cod Travel Guide Magazine, and more.
