Tawana Petty

Tawana Petty is a prominent leader in social change and digital justice with extensive experience in various roles dedicated to equity and community empowerment. Currently serving as a 2024 National Leading from the Inside Out Yearlong Fellow at the Rockwood Leadership Institute and a Just Tech Fellow at the Social Science Research Council, Tawana Petty previously founded and directs Petty Propolis, an organization focused on literary workshops and social justice initiatives. Notable positions include the Director of Policy and Advocacy at the Algorithmic Justice League, Senior Policy and Advocacy Advisor at Data for Black Lives, and Director Data Justice Program at Detroit Community Technology Project.
