Sophie Hager Hume

Sophie Hager Hume is the current compliance officer at Society for Corporate Governance. Sophie has also worked as the first vice president at Washington Mutual Bank and as a securities and corporate attorney at both K&L Gates and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

Hume began their career in 1992 as a securities and corporate attorney at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Sophie then moved to K&L Gates in 1996, where they worked for three years before taking a position as first vice president at Washington Mutual Bank in 1999. Sophie left Washington Mutual in 2009 to join Starbucks Coffee Company as VP and assistant general counsel and assistant secretary. In 2020, they left Starbucks to take their current position at Society for Corporate Governance.

Sophie Hager Hume graduated from Brooklyn Law School with honors. Sophie holds a BA in English and Art Theirtory from New York University and an MA in Art Theirtory from The Institute of Fine Arts, NYU.
