Accreditation Site Review Team Leader at Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH)

Les R Becker, Ph.D., MS.MEdL, NRP, CHSE, serves as a Senior Evaluation Scientist at the Simulation Training and Education Lab of MedStar Health and is a Member of the MHRI Institutional Review Board since December 2018. Becker has significant involvement with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, holding multiple roles including Accreditation Site Review Team Leader and Member of the Accreditation Council. In academia, Becker is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and actively participates as a reviewer for various medical journals. Becker's educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Evaluation and Analytical Methods from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science in Medical Education Leadership from the University of New England, and a Graduate Certificate in Simulation Education from BryanLGH College of Health Sciences. Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH)

The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) seeks to improve performance and reduce errors in patient care through the use of simulation. Established in 2004 by professionals using simulation for education, testing, and research in health care, SSH membership includes physicians, nurses, allied health and paramedical personnel, researchers, educators and developers from around the globe. SSH fosters the improvement and application of simulation–based modalities such as human patient simulators, virtual reality, standardized patients and task trainers. Recognizing that simulation represents a paradigm shift in health care education, SSH promotes improvements in simulation technology, educational methods, practitioner assessment, and patient safety that promote better patient care and can improve patient outcome. A major venue for advancing simulation in medicine is the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH), which has been held since 1995. SSH, beginning in 2006, has wholly sponsored this meeting. SSH welcomes ties with other organizations interested in patient simulation as well as companies providing simulation technology.
