Samuel Liau

Samuel Liau has a diverse work experience in the creative industry. Samuel started their career as a Videographer & Editor at The Filmmakers Company in September 2015, where they worked until November 2016. During this time, they also took on the role of Creative Project Manager, leading the team in conceptualizing and completing short film projects, as well as setting up and maintaining a Multiple-Camera-Production service. Samuel was also involved in co-organizing community events.

In 2017, Samuel worked as a Freelance Creative at Media Bezalel, where they worked on freelance and passion projects in Film and Motion Design, including VFX and Title Design for Perfect Song. Samuel continued freelancing until July 2018.

In August 2018, Samuel joined Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus as a Lecturer in Multimedia Design. During their time there, they mentored students on special projects and led collaborations with industry clients to produce multidisciplinary design content. Samuel also took on the role of Discipline Leader in the School of Design & Arts from February 2020 to February 2022. In this position, they initiated formal partnerships between the university and media organizations and conducted benchmark exercises with partner universities.

Currently, Samuel Liau is working as the Head of Creative at SOCOE since January 2023.

Samuel Liau completed their Bachelor of Design in Multimedia Design from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, from 2009 to 2011. In 2012 to 2013, they pursued a Certificate IV in Ministry with a focus on TV & Media from Hillsong College. Later, from 2014 to 2018, Samuel obtained their Masters of Managerial Psychology in Learning Culture from HELP University.
