Riley Murray has been working in the professional field since 1976. In that time, they have held a variety of roles at different companies. At GE, they were a Manufacturing Management Program and Manufacturing Engineering. Riley then moved to R.R. Donnelley & Sons, where they held roles as CI Program Manager, IT Director, and Engineering Manager from 1980 to 2004. From 2004 to 2016, they were the Maintenance and Reliability Manager and Senior Plant Industrial Engineer at Hollister Incorporated. From 2016 to 2020, they were a Lecturer at James Madison University and an Adjunct Instructor from 2020 to 2023. During this time, they also worked at Secure Futures Solar as Manager of Asset & Project Management and Senior Project Coordinator from 2017 to 2020 and at Sol Renewables Incorporated as Director of Operations and Director of Asset Management from 2020 to present.

Riley Murray attended Penn State University and obtained a BSIE in Industrial & Management Systems Engineering in 1975, an MSIE in Industrial & Management Systems Engineering in 1976, and a Graduate Certificate Program in Applied Statistics in 2011. In 2013, Riley also obtained a CMRP - Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional certification from the SMRP - Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals.
