Brian Whiteway has a diverse range of work experience spanning over 20 years in various industries.

Brian began their career as a Commercial Account Manager at Scotiabank, where they structured and negotiated profitable financing arrangements with clients.

Brian then joined the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) as a Senior Account Manager, providing commercial financing to mid to large organizations.

Afterwards, they worked at the Bell - Aliant telecommunications company as the Senior Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions. In this role, they led a team responsible for the acquisition and divestiture process, including target identification, negotiations, due diligence, and closing transactions.

Following their time at Bell - Aliant, they held multiple roles at ICAN, an Information Technology company. Brian first served as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, overseeing all corporate finance functions. Brian was then promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer, where they were responsible for the overall operations of both the Canadian and US-based IT companies.

After ICAN, Brian Whiteway joined Verafin, a hyper growth SaaS company, as the Chief Financial Officer. Brian worked closely with the executive team to develop strategies for the company and participated in regular management reviews. Brian also led a successful capital raise for the company, securing a $60 million venture capital financing.

Most recently, they served as an Investor and Former Chief Financial Officer at Solace Power Inc., where they oversaw all aspects of financial operations and played a key role in developing the company's corporate strategy.

Currently, Brian Whiteway is working as a Senior Director of Growth & Transition Capital at BDC Capital, a subsidiary of the Business Development Bank of Canada. In this role, they specialize in providing investment capital for mergers and acquisitions, shareholder transactions, and growth initiatives for businesses in various industries.

Brian Whiteway, MBA, FCPA, FCMA, completed their Bachelor of Commerce degree with a focus in Finance at Memorial University of Newfoundland from 1988 to 1993. Brian then went on to pursue their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Finance and Entrepreneurship at Saint Mary's University from 1993 to 1995.

In terms of additional certifications, Brian obtained their Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation from CMA Canada in June 1999. Brian later achieved the Fellow of The Society of Management Accountants (FCMA) designation from CMA Canada in August 2014. In January 2015, Brian received the CPA - Chartered Professional Accountant designation as well as the FCPA - Fellow of The Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada designation from CPA Canada (Chartered Professional Accountants Canada).
