About the role

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team! Using your initiative, enthusiasm, experience and engineering background, you will play a key role in performing a wide variety of electrical engineering tasks and activities including requirements creation, system design, hardware/software integration, test and performance verification of system, and failure analysis. This is an opportunity to be an early team member in an innovative, thriving, and ambitious company. The ideal candidate has proven experience with strong program management combined with individual technical contributions in the field of industrial or manufacturing electrical engineering. The position is based in the greater Atlanta area, with an expectation to relocate to Cedartown, Georgia, within 8-12 months. Initially, the role will require regular travel to Odessa, TX, where our first-generation solar panel recycling facility is located.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical components of full-scale production recycling equipment to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation
  • Design, implement, and oversee electrical systems for new equipment installations, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.
  • Install instrumentation and electrical components safelyand effectively to enable continuous process monitoring over a wide variety of system parameters, including electrical consumption and other metrics that are needed to sustain the recycling operation
  • Perform preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment. Collaborate with the operations and maintenance teams to provide electrical expertise in maintaining production line efficiency
  • Run conduit, pull wire, change motors, and maintain lighting systems and basic motor controls 
  • Plan and manage upgrades to the facility’s electrical infrastructure to accommodate equipment expansions and increased power demands. Work with contractors and vendors to ensure electrical installations and upgrades meet the company's requirements and comply with relevant codes and standards
  • Maintain, modify, and troubleshoot Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs 
  • Create, review and release detailed design, project management, and standard operational & maintenance documentation. 
  • Interpret, update, and create plant electrical diagrams
  • Analyze problems and create understanding of root cause, define resolution and prevention of failures and other technical duties. 
  • Conduct analysis of Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMEA) to identify risks and calculate probability of occurrence/criticality of failure modes for electrical components. 
  • Conduct failure analysis and development of corrective actions in support of the Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) process. 
  • Contribute to the advancement of facility designs and awareness of recent innovations by continuing education, reading, participating in engineering organization. 

TRAVEL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role requires frequent travel to our SOLARCYCLE recycling facility in Odessa, TX.
  • The requirement to spend multiple weeks at a time in Odessa may arise. There are on-site accommodations available.
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial electrical engineering design and development, preferably within the recycling or sustainability sector
  • Experience with equipment installation, power distribution, and facility electrical infrastructure.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity withmaintenance tools and equipment 
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards and local/national electrical codes (e.g., NEC).
  • Ability to handle a physical workload
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex electrical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects, especially by using tech-enabled project management tools like Smartsheet
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
