Kene Emechebe

Senior Engineer at Solarise Africa

Kene Emechebe has a strong background in solar engineering and electrical engineering. Kene is currently the Head of Solar Engineering at Solarise Africa since December 2021. Prior to this, they worked at New Earth Energy as the Director of Engineering from March 2021 onwards. Kene also held the positions of Technical Manager and Head of Engineering at the same company from September 2019 to February 2021. Before joining New Earth Energy, Kene worked at Emergent Energy as a Project Engineer from May 2018 to September 2019. Kene was responsible for designing, project managing, and commissioning various solar PV installations. Prior to this, they worked at Soventix SA (Pty) Ltd as an Electrical Engineer and Project Manager from August 2017 to May 2018. In this role, they designed and managed several solar PV projects of different sizes. Kene also gained experience as an Electrical Engineer and Project Manager at AMSOLAR Corp from 2016 to 2017, where they designed and managed commercial and residential grid tie and off-grid systems. Kene started their career as a Supervisor and Tutor at the National Youth Service Corps from March 2012 to March 2013. Prior to that, they gained internship experience at Martsie Limited (Industrial Services Division of Siemens Nigeria) as an Electrical Engineer, where they focused on the design and production of low and medium voltage distribution boards and lighting kiosks. Kene completed an internship as a Student Intern Engineer at Covenant University in 2008. Throughout their career, Kene Emechebe has demonstrated expertise in solar engineering, project management, and electrical engineering.

Kene Emechebe began their education at Air Force Secondary School from 2000 to 2006, where they obtained their WAEC and MATRIC in Technical Science. Kene then pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Covenant University from 2006 to 2011. Following that, they attended the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria from 2014 to 2015, where they pursued a Postgraduate degree in Engineering and Technology Management.

In addition to their formal education, Kene Emechebe has obtained several certifications. Kene received a verification of their international academic qualifications from the World Education Services in February 2021. Kene also obtained certifications in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) from NOSA, SolarEdge Certified Installer from SolarEdge Technologies, and became a Candidate Engineer through the Engineering Council of South Africa in November 2017.
