Chris Hoy has a long and varied work experience, beginning in 1989 with the Royal Navy. In this role, they were the Satellite Communications & Electronic Warfare Department Manager/Senior Engineer, responsible for the availability of all Electronic Warfare, Satellite Communications, and Navigation equipment on board H.M.S. Chris then moved to NATO UK Communications HQ in 1993, where they were the Chief of Secure Systems and Cryptography, in charge of a team responsible for the management of communication security and cryptography for all active Royal Naval surface vessels. After this, they joined Logitron Holdings in 1996 as IT Manager and Database Developer, designing, developing, and integrating DB4 and Microsoft Access company databases for stock control and CRM. In 1997, they joined ATLAS Research & Consulting as a Developer/IT Manager, developing many analytical applications and data cleaning tools. Following this, they worked at Arthur Andersen & Co. as a Senior Developer (Contract) in 1999, developing a Time & Expense Reporting and Submission System for Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa (EMEIA). Chris then moved to Maritz Research Europe in 2003 as a Senior Developer, writing code/stored procedures to enable the General Motors dealer feedback website to be displayed in 27 different languages. In 2004, they joined GAM as a Senior Software Engineer, developing many systems including FX Hedging, analytical, and dealing systems. Most recently, in 2020, they joined DCSL Software Ltd as a Senior Software Engineer and in 2021 they joined Solidatus as a Senior Software Development Specialist.
Chris Hoy began their education in 1979 at Urmston Grammar School, where they earned 10 O Levels in General. From 1983 to 1985, they attended North Trafford College of Further Education and earned A Levels in Electronics and Computing. From 1985 to 1989, they attended the Royal Naval College of Weapon Engineering and earned an H.N.C. in Electronic Engineering Specialising in Satellite Communications and Electronic Warfare. Finally, from 1994 to 1997, they attended the University of Westminster and earned a Bsc in Computing, specializing in Computer Software Engineering.
