Richard C. Straube

Richard C. Straube is the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Soligenix. Richard has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including serving as the Chief Medical Officer at both Critical Biologics Corporation and INO Therapeutics LLC. At Critical Biologics, they created the development program for treatment of critically ill patients with the novel drug gelsolin. Richard also oversaw the development, validation, and clinical utility of a diagnostic test for quantitation of serum gelsolin. Richard then wrote the Investigator Brochure and regulatory filings needed to start human trials with gelsolin in Hong Kong. Richard completed and analyzed the initial studies with gelsolin in critically ill patients.

At INO Therapeutics, they were responsible for creating and defending the NDA for inhaled nitric oxide and the companion delivery device for use in newborns. Richard was also responsible for growing the R&D organization to include Clinical Research, Biostatistics, Medical Liaisons, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality. Richard participated in the sale of the company to Ikaria for $700M.

Richard C. Straube earned their Masters of Science in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine at the University of London. Richard then completed a Joint Adult and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at UC San Diego. Next, they completed a Pediatric Residency at University of Chicago's Wyler's Children Hospital. Afterwards, they did a Pediatric Internship at the same hospital. Richard then earned their Doctor of Medicine in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Finally, they completed their Bachelor of Arts in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the University of Chicago.
