Sabrina Carlson

Sabrina Carlson has been working in the data science field since 2008. Sabrina began their career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an Instructor, Research Consultant, and Research Assistant. In 2017, they began working as a Freelance Academic/Scientific Editor. In 2020, they began working at SoLo Funds as a Data Analyst and Lead Data Analyst, at Omdena as a Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist, and at Thinkful as a Data Science. At Thinkful, Sabrina worked alongside a senior data scientist and built several data pipeline projects in Python, utilizing AWS at times. Sabrina also cleaned and explored data, applied supervised learning techniques, employed clustering algorithms, applied dimensionality reduction techniques (PCA and UMAP), and used TensorFlow to fit a neural network to make predictions for InstaCart. Additionally, they wrangled an NJ Transit dataset, applied PCA, and fit clustering algorithms to analyze the data and provide valuable insights to NJ Transit on their train delays.

Sabrina Carlson began their educational journey in 2003 when they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Government from Christopher Newport University. Sabrina then went on to pursue a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science and Data Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they completed in 2009. In the same year, they began their PhD Candidate program in Political Science and Methodology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they completed in 2012. In 2020, Sabrina Carlson completed a Data Science course from Thinkful.
