Maarten Rutgers

Maarten Rutgers has an extensive work experience spanning over several years and industries. Maarten is currently the Vice President of Engineering at SomaLogic since March 2022. Previously, they held the same position briefly at the same company in March 2022.

Before joining SomaLogic, Maarten worked at Asylum Research, an Oxford Instruments Company. From January 2018 to March 2022, they served as the Director of New Product Introduction, managing the introduction of new products and contributing to corporate strategy decisions. Prior to that, from March 2015 to December 2017, they held the role of Director of Engineering. Maarten initially started their tenure at Asylum Research in October 2004 as a Staff R&D Scientist, where they developed various products, managed projects, and contributed to the company's knowledge sharing and marketing efforts.

Maarten also has experience at Tesla Electronics, where they joined as the Vice President of Research and Development in 2002 and was involved in all aspects of product development, manufacturing, and marketing until 2004.

Earlier in their career, Maarten worked at The Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor of Physics from July 1997 to September 2001. During this time, they operated a research lab, conducted research, and taught undergraduate physics courses. Maarten also worked as a Post Doctoral Researcher at the university from June 1996 to June 1997.

Prior to their time at The Ohio State University, Maarten worked as a Post Doctoral Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh from October 1994 to May 1996, conducting research in thin film flow and two-dimensional turbulence.

Maarten'sacademic journey started at Exxon Corporate Research, where they worked as a PhD student from 1989 to 1994.

Maarten Rutgers obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Minnesota in 1989. Maarten further pursued their education and earned a Ph.D. in Physics, specializing in Experimental Soft Condensed Matter, from Princeton University in 1994. Prior to their university education, Maarten completed their high school education at Jefferson High School in Bloomington, MN.
