Matthew Loper

Matthew Loper is an experienced professional in engineering and planning, currently serving as the Director of the Department of Engineering and Planning for Somerset County, NJ, since June 2003. Loper oversees various divisions including engineering, planning, and GIS services, and is responsible for the design and construction of critical infrastructure projects. In addition to this role, Loper serves on multiple boards, including as a Board Member for the Somerset County Vocational and Technical Schools, Board Secretary for the Somerset County Improvement Authority, and New Jersey State Director for the National Association of County Engineers. Loper's background also includes military service as an Assistant Operations Officer aboard the USS COLE and as a Weapons Officer on the USS TRENTON. Loper holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University.
