Matt Gimple

Matt Gimple has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of national security and defense. Matt started their career in 1989 with the U.S. Coast Guard, holding various roles such as Officer, Chief of Staff of the Eleventh Coast Guard District, Deputy Director of Strategic Management and Doctrine, and Chief of the Office of Strategic Analysis. Matt commanded several Coast Guard ships, including the USCGC Boutwell and USCGC Hamilton.

In 2014, Gimple joined the US Navy as a CNO Strategic Studies Group Fellow, where they contributed to generating revolutionary naval warfare concepts. Matt also served as a Fellow at MIT Seminar XXI, focusing on educating leaders in the U.S. government's national security community.

Gimple later worked with the United States Department of Defense as the Acting Director for Homeland Defense & Security and as the USCG liaison to the Under Secretary for Defense - Policy. Matt also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Surface Navy Association.

In 2019, Gimple joined Sonalysts, Inc. as the Vice President and Director of Homeland Security Programs. As the Vice President, they oversee the overall operations and strategic direction of the company. In their role as the Director of Homeland Security Programs, they are responsible for developing and implementing programs to ensure national security.

Matt Gimple has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Management from the US Coast Guard Academy. Matt also holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in National Security and Strategy from the U.S. Naval War College and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Environmental Management from Rensselaer at Work.

In addition to their formal education, Matt has obtained several certifications, including Microsoft Project 2016 Essential Training, Design Thinking: Understanding the Process, Executive Decision Making, Business Development Foundations, Business Etiquette: Phone, Email, and Text, Coaching Skills for Leaders and Managers, Managing New Managers, and Wilderness First Aid. Matt has also completed the Homeland Security Planner's Course (HLSPC), the Joint Interagency Multinational Planner's Course (JIMPC), and holds a Master of Steam, Motor and Auxiliary Sail Vessels nmt 200GRT certification from the National Maritime Center.
