Wendell Bontrager's work experience includes founding Sonata Bank in 2021, where they serve as the Co-Founder and President. Prior to that, Wendell worked as a Strategic Initiatives professional at Banc Card of America from 2020 to 2021. Wendell was also the President and Board Member of Equity Bank from 2017 to 2019. Wendell served as the Region President for Old National Bank's Northeast Indiana region from 2014 to 2017, and as an Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer at Tower Bank & Trust Company and Tower Financial Corp. from 1999 to 2014. Wendell also held various other positions at Tower Bank, including Senior Vice President in Healthcare & Private Banking and Vice President in Commercial Relationship Manager. Before their time at Tower Bank, Wendell worked as a Vice President at NBD Bank/Bank One from 1992 to 1999.
Wendell Bontrager attended DePauw University from 1987 to 1988, studying Economics. Wendell then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration at Goshen College from 1988 to 1991. More recently, in 2018 and 2019, they attended Stagen Leadership Academy.
