Medical Director at Sonder

Dr. Jamie Phillips has a diverse work experience in the medical field. In 1999, Dr. Phillips worked as a Surgeon Commander in the Royal Navy until 2015. In 2015, Dr. Phillips transitioned to the Australian Army and served as a Lieutenant Colonel until 2018. During this time, Dr. Phillips also worked in various roles in rural and remote medicine, specializing in emergency medicine and retrieval medicine. From 2018 to 2019, Dr. Phillips worked for Oil Search Limited in the field of rural and remote medicine. In 2018, Dr. Phillips also began working for both Queensland Health and WA Country Health Service in the area of rural and remote emergency medicine. In 2022, Dr. Phillips briefly served as the Chief Medical Officer - Special Forces: World's Toughest Test at Fox Corporation. Currently, Dr. Phillips holds the position of Medical Director at Sonder and also works in emergency medicine at Ramsay Health Care.

Dr. Jamie Phillips has a diverse education history. They have obtained various degrees and certifications in different fields related to emergency medicine and healthcare leadership. Dr. Phillips holds an Advanced Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine from the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine and a Fellowship in Rural & Remote Medicine from the same institution. They also possess a Dip IMC (Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine) from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and an Associate Fellowship in Healthcare Leadership from the Australasian College of Health Service Management.

In addition, Dr. Phillips has a Membership (Specialist training programme) in Family Medicine / General Practice from the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and a MB ChB (with European Language Studies - French) degree, which is a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, from The University of Manchester. They have also earned a Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (Diploma in Advanced French) from the Centre International d'Etudes Pédagogiques (French Ministry of Education).

Furthermore, Dr. Phillips has obtained multiple certifications related to their field. These include Advanced Life Support (Level 2) from the Australian Resuscitation Council, Rural Emergency Obstetric Training from the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), Ultrasound in Rural & Remote Medicine Training from the Australian Institute of Ultrasound, Advanced Paediatric Life Support from the Australian Resuscitation Council, Emergency Management of Severe Trauma from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and Ultrasound in Emergency & Trauma Medicine from the Australian Army. They have also received training in Diving & Hyperbaric Medicine from both the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Navy, as well as Ultrasound in Emergency Medicine Training from the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
