Prior to joining Sonoma, Dr. Humbert led a team in Dr. Kiem’s lab at the Fred Hutch cancer center in Seattle developing and testing gene therapy and genome editing strategies in hematopoietic stem cells as treatment for hemoglobinopathies, myeloid malignancies and Fanconi Anemia. During that time, he mastered viral vector-based gene delivery including lentivirus, adeno-associated virus and adenovirus, and editing platforms such as CRISPR/Cas9, base editors and prime editors. Dr. Humbert completed both his BS and PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Washington. His doctoral work focused on gene transfer in the bacterial pathogen Helicobacter pylori in Dr. Salama’s lab at the Fred Hutch.
