Tamara Maas

Tamara Maas has over 13 years of work experience in the field of bioinformatics and media. Tamara currently holds the position of Head of Bioinformatics Services, Senior Director at SOPHiA GENETICS since January 2020. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Bioinformatics Services, Director at SOPHiA GENETICS from October 2019 to January 2020. Tamara also held the role of Head of Bioinformatics Services, Manager at SOPHiA GENETICS from September 2014 to October 2019. Their earlier experience includes working as a Senior Bioinformatician at SOPHiA GENETICS from November 2013 to September 2014. Before joining SOPHiA GENETICS, Tamara worked as a PhD student at EMBL-EBI from October 2009 to October 2013. Tamara began their career with a summer internship at Artisan Global Media in August 2007.

Tamara Maas earned their Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics from Friedrich Schiller University Jena from 2003 to 2009. Tamara then pursued further education and completed a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science at Växjö University from 2006 to 2007. Following that, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioinformatics/Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge, where they studied from 2009 to 2013.
