Aboo Thanikkal

Aboo Thanikkal is currently the VP of Product Development at Sotero. Prior to this, they were with DataGravity, which was acquired by HyTrust Inc. in October 2017. At DataGravity, Aboo led the development of the data intelligence and analytics platform for DataGravity's smart storage and virtual appliance for security, compliance, and data recovery. Their responsibilities included search, discovery, content analytics, and governance.

Aboo implemented search and discovery by indexing content and metadata of files in virtual machines in Elasticsearch with the ability to retrieve current and past versions. Aboo also designed and optimized index schema / queries to support large number of documents. In addition, Aboo implemented detection of abnormal user actions or malware activities on file systems by auditing user activities on files and directories.

Other responsibilities included performance testing, tuning and optimization of database queries and services, as well as guiding team members in design and implementation of system components, and conducting design/code reviews.

Prior to joining DataGravity, Aboo was a software architect consultant with Independent Consulting from March 2019 to November 2019. Before that, they were a project lead at Philips Medical Systems from April 2005 to April 2008.

Aboo Thanikkal has a Master's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Aboo also has a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Calicut.
