Sophia Lopez

Sophia Lopez, CEM, MPS, serves as an Emergency Management Senior Specialist at Sound Transit since September 2025, focusing on alert and warning systems as well as continuity planning. Previously, Lopez held the position of Community Engagement Manager for the City of Seattle, leading a team dedicated to disaster preparedness communication from December 2021 to September 2025. Prior experience includes roles as Emergency Management Program Manager at King County, WA, and Interim Emergency Manager/Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the City of Bellevue. Lopez began a career in emergency preparedness with the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for Plaquemines Parish Government, contributing to community outreach and emergency operations. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Professional Studies with a focus on Homeland Security from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hawai‘i System.
