Job description

Position Summary:  SoundCommerce is a rapidly growing SaaS-based composable data platform. Our software simplifies data ingestion, data modeling, data analytics and data activation for omnichannel brands looking to make their retail data useful and actionable. We are an employee-first, fully remote employer looking to add to our team.

The SoundCommerce Retail Data Analyst / Project Manager of Data Initiatives has dual responsibilities within the Implementation & Delivery Quality function, acting as both a hands-on data analyst and a project manager for customer data pipeline & analytics projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis
  • Interrogate source data (database, file, Postman API calls, etc.) to understand source data composition and properties with the objective of identifying mapping rules to map new source data to known retail data models.
  • Clearly identify and document gaps and/or inconsistencies between source data and currently released versions of standard models.
  • Execute and troubleshoot data mappings in SoundCommerce’s low-code proprietary mapping language as well as Python.
  • Validate mapped / transformed data against source system data to identify & correct data quality issues from ingestion, mapping, & transformation.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses against modeled customer data to seek novel insights and/or identify insights to address one-off customer business questions.
  • Develop & maintain custom dashboards using SoundCommerce’s in-house BI tool, Sigma.

Project Management- Lead cross-functional project teams for delivery of SoundCommerce’s solutions into customers.

  • Develop and manage project plans and timelines, as well as stakeholder, risk, and issue registers for customer solution deliveries.
  • Monitor project progress, manage & mitigate risks, and drive issue resolution.
  • Lead weekly customer delivery meetings.
  • Communicate project status to key internal & external project stakeholders.

Stakeholder Collaboration (as an early stage startup - this area is particularly important)- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (executive, product, engineering) to identify any solution requirements that require engineering and/or advancement of the product; use this information to construct a project plan that meets customer requirements in a way that most closely aligns with delivery of standard product features.

  • Collaborate with the product data team in order to identify the best solutions for data mapping gaps, from augmenting standard models to pushing gap data into custom ingestion tracks.
  • Communicate technical concepts and findings to non-technical internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Solicit feedback and incorporate internal and external stakeholder input in order to drive continuous improvement of the customer delivery experience.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, computer science, data science, or a related field plus one to three years of relevant work experience in data analysis and support.
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL / intermediate Python skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading complex data pipeline and/or analysis projects from initiation to completion.
  • Experienced in at least one project management methodology, such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall; familiarity with multiple is desired.
