Dr. Cody Friesen, founder and CEO of SOURCE Global, PBC, is an innovator and business leader who is passionate about using advanced technology to solve humanity’s most pressing and essential challenges.

Friesen and his team developed the SOURCE® Hydropanel, a revolutionary technology that sustainably produces perfectly balanced drinking water using sunlight and air and independent of infrastructure.

In 52 counties, SOURCE Hydropanels are bringing high-quality, renewable water to homes, schools, luxury hotels, remote work sites and communities facing water quality and scarcity issues.

Friesen, a leading global thinker in technology for sustainability and social equity, is known for developing results-driven teams and cultures that are highly inventive and lead with love.

Prior to SOURCE, Friesen founded Nant Energy (formerly Fluidic Energy), an advanced battery company that powers remote grids worldwide.

He is the Fulton Engineering Professor of Innovation at Arizona State University, senior sustainability scientist at the ASU Global Institute of Sustainability, and an MIT Lemelson award recipient who holds more than 180 patents.

Under his leadership, SOURCE Global has been recognized with the CES Innovation Award and as a BloombergNEF New Energy Pioneer.

The Aspen Institute named Friesen a Henry Crown Fellow in 2019 and, in 2009, he was on MIT’s Technology Review list of top 35 innovators under 35 years old.

In addition, he has served two terms as co-chair of the Energy Subcommittee for the US Department of Commerce’s Manufacturing Council.

Friesen holds Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. in the same discipline from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
