Simone Smith-Godfrey

Simone Smith-Godfrey is an experienced maritime research professional currently serving as Associate Researcher at the South African International Maritime Institute since October 2022 and Chief Researcher at Maritime House South Africa since March 2022, focusing on maritime domain and Blue Economy research. Previously, Simone held the position of CEO at Maritime Inc. SA, a 5PL Management Consultancy, from December 2013 to August 2022, and at Silvex South Africa from April 2008 to August 2022, specializing in logistics management consultancy. Simone's research expertise was further demonstrated during tenure as Senior Researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, where significant contributions were made to South Africa's Maritime Transport Policy and port congestion analysis. Educational qualifications include a Master of Laws in Maritime Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, an Accelerated Development Programme for Women in Maritime Leadership from Nelson Mandela University Business School, and multiple other degrees spanning maritime studies, logistics, and supply chain management.
