Monique Patton Garvin, LMSW, MPA has a diverse work experience in various fields. Monique started their career as a Corps Member and Math Teacher with Teach For America from 2014 to 2016. After that, they worked as a Math Teacher and later as a Program Coordinator at the University of South Carolina in 2017. Monique also served as a Policy Intern with Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc. in 2017.

In 2018, Monique worked as a Program Development Intern at Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands. Monique then joined PALMETTO PLACE CHILDRENS EMERGENCY SHELTER in 2019 as a Direct Care Staff member. From 2019 to 2022, Monique held multiple roles at the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General, including VAWA Program Coordinator and Deputy Director of Violence Against Women Act and Human Trafficking Programs.

Most recently, Monique has been working as a Therapist at the South Carolina Youth Advocate Program since 2021. Their extensive experience in education, program coordination, policy, and advocacy demonstrates their commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and addressing social issues.

Monique Patton Garvin, LMSW, MPA began their education at Winthrop University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from 2010 to 2014. Monique then pursued higher education at the University of South Carolina, graduating in 2019 with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, specializing in Social Work. Additionally, they earned a Master's degree in Public Administration from the same institution during the same period.
