Kathleen T. O'Brien

Kathleen T. O'Brien has extensive experience in the legal field. Kathleen T. currently holds the role of VP, Deputy General Counsel at South Jersey Industries since July 2023. Prior to this, they worked as an Assistant General Counsel at the same company from October 2018. Before joining South Jersey Industries, Kathleen worked as a Corporate Associate at Parker McCay P.A., where they represented businesses and non-profits in corporate planning and transactions from June 2016 to September 2018. Kathleen also worked as a Corporate & Securities Associate at Szaferman Lakind, where they represented clients in corporate and securities matters from September 2013 to June 2016. Kathleen T. began their legal career as a Law Clerk to Hon. Mary C. Jacobson, A.J.S.C. at the State of New Jersey from September 2012 to August 2013. Kathleen has also gained valuable experience as a Legal Intern at Celgene, a Law Clerk at Winston and Winston PC, a Clinical Intern at the Investor Rights Clinic, an Intern for Hon. Robert E. Grossman at the United States Bankruptcy Court, EDNY, a Spring Intern at the Law Office of Gregory Messer, and as a Legal Intern at WNET.ORG. Throughout their various roles, Kathleen has acquired skills in areas such as corporate law, securities offerings, legal research, drafting and reviewing documents, and assisting with contract review and research on regulatory issues.

Kathleen T. O'Brien completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame from 2003 to 2007. Kathleen T. then pursued a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Brooklyn Law School, graduating between 2009 and 2012. In 2017, they attended the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where they obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree, focusing on Taxation, which they completed in 2018.
