Asmita T.

Asmita T. has a diverse background in health promotion and community support, currently working as a Health Promoter at South Riverdale Community Health Centre since May 2021. Previous roles include Cancer Prevention Coordinator and Newcomer Connector at Sherbourne Health, where Asmita coordinated an IRCC funded project to assist newcomers in the St. Jamestown area. Additional experience includes positions as a Homemaker at Home & Hearth, Outreach Worker at South Riverdale Community Health Centre focusing on diabetes education, and Coordinator for Research & Outreach at Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada, exploring barriers faced by South Asian women in accessing breast cancer services. Asmita has also served as a Counsellor at the Sexual Assault/Rape Crisis Centre of Peel, providing support through an anti-racist and feminist lens, and worked as an Educational Services Coordinator at TAPE Educational Services Inc. Asmita holds an M.A. in Psychology from Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University and has completed coursework towards a Master's in Social Work at the University of Windsor, among other academic credentials in communications and English literature.
