Allen Smith has extensive experience in healthcare leadership, currently serving as President and CEO of South Shore Health since November 2020. Prior to this role, Allen held the position of President at Brigham and Women's Physicians Organization from August 2007 to August 2020, and previously served as Chief Medical Officer at BWPO from June 2004 to August 2007. Allen's early career includes roles as AVP for Strategy and Business Planning and AVP and Medical Director of Secure Horizons at Tufts Health Plan between 1998 and 2004. Allen's educational background includes a Master of Science in Health Administration and Population Health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Doctor of Medicine from UMass Chan Medical School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College.
