Dr Stephen Bird

Dr. Stephen Bird has extensive work experience in the water industry and environmental consulting. Dr Stephen began their career as a Freshwater Policy Manager at Welsh Water Authority in 1987 and then moved on to become a Consent Policy Manager at the National Rivers Authority (Wales) in 1989. From 1990 to 1992, they worked as an Environmental Consultant at Welsh Water Group. In 1998, they became a Non Executive Director at UK Water Industry Research Limited. In 2000, they joined South West Water as an Operations Director. In 2011, they took on multiple roles including Director at Heart of the South West LEP and Board Member (and Chair of Actuarial and Accounting Committee) at Pennon Group Pension Scheme.

Dr Stephen Bird completed their education at Swansea University from 1977 to 1985. During this time, they obtained a BSc and PhD in Hydrological Modelling. Prior to attending university, they attended Sutton High School from 1968 to 1976, although it is not indicated whether they obtained a degree or studied a particular field of study during this time.
