Jon Burgess

Jon Burgess has extensive work experience in roles related to stewardship, assurance, and risk management. Jon worked for South32 as the Principal Stewardship and Combined Assurance - Group Risk, where they developed and improved a Global Coordinated Assurance Plan and managed integrated assurance reporting. Jon also worked as the Principal Second Line Assurance, responsible for designing and implementing the Second Line Stewardship Standard and System of Work across various business functions globally. Prior to South32, Jon worked at EY as a Senior Manager in the Business Consulting practice, specializing in internal audit, governance, risk management, and compliance. Jon had over 10 years of experience in delivering assurance outcomes and building strong stakeholder relationships across different industries.

Jon Burgess has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and Finance from Curtin University, which they obtained from 2007 to 2009. Jon then completed a Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting from the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Governance and Risk Management from the Governance Institute of Australia in 2021. Jon is currently attending Edith Cowan University for the ICAM Lead Investigator course, which is expected to be completed in 2022.
