Wendy Busher

Wendy Busher has a diverse work experience in the field of data management and governance. Wendy is currently working as a Data Governance Lead at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Steward at Teck Resources Limited from 2020 to 2022. Before Teck Resources, Wendy held the position of Technical Data Governance at Repsol from 2018 to 2020, where they were responsible for documenting data flow, supporting documentation, and application standardization.

Earlier in their career, Wendy worked at Nexen from 2001 to 2016, where they held multiple roles including OSRD Technical Services Manager/Advisor Data Management, Manager Data - Oil Sands, and Engineering Data Analyst. At Nexen, they were involved in various data management projects and provided support in creating centralized databases and designing operated databases for international properties.

Before joining Nexen, Wendy worked at Northstar Energy as an Engineering Technologist from 1999 to 2001, where they prepared production reports and assisted in the budget process. Wendy also gained experience as an Engineering Technologist at Shell from 1996 to 1999, where they contributed to the efficiency of production and reservoir engineers through data analyses and system enhancements.

Starting their career at OGCI Software Canada/SIS-Geoquest in 1994, Wendy worked as a Supervisor of Customer Support, providing technical support, training, and software installation for reservoir analysis software packages.

Wendy's early career includes their tenure as an Engineering Technologist at Norcen Energy Resources Ltd. from 1985 to 1994. During this time, they implemented economic short-cut curves, managed project priorities, and upgraded filing systems.

Overall, Wendy Busher has a strong background in data management, governance, and technical support, with experience in various industries including education, mining, energy, and software development.

Wendy Busher completed a DBA Certification in Oracle DBA from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in 2003. Wendy later obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems (BSB/IS) from the University of Phoenix between 2009 and 2011.
