Jason Waughtel

Jason Waughtel is currently the Regional Executive Coastal, SVP at Southern Bank and Trust Company. Jason has over 18 years of experience in the banking industry.

Jason started their career in banking at Bank of America in May 1998 as a Small Business Direct Sales Manager. In this role, they were responsible for leading and executing direct sales campaigns for small business products throughout the footprint of Bank of America. Jason also managed 20 business bankers which included inbound and outbound sales calls to service and deepen relationships with business customers.

In April 2004, Jason transitioned to PNC where they became a Regional Account Manager in the Commercial Banking Group. In this role, they provided financial resources and advice for business owners and managed a book of business in excess of $100 million dollars.

Jason has been with Southern Bank and Trust Company since April 2012 and currently serves as the Regional Executive Coastal, SVP. In this role, they are responsible for leading the company’s efforts in the coastal region and managing a team of banking professionals.

Jason Waughtel attended Virginia Tech for their undergraduate degree. After graduating, they went on to attend the Graduate School of Banking at LSU, where they earned their degree in banking.

They work with Trent Dudley - Regional Executive Hampton Roads, SVP, Bill Griffin - Director of Leadership & Development, SVP, and Sondra McCorquodale - Chief Digital Officer, EVP. Their manager is Taylor Harrell, President.
