Kent Kauss

Kent Kauss is regional vice president, external relations for Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Sempra Energy’s regulated California utilities.

Before joining SoCalGas and SDG&E in 2017, Kauss was the Senior Director and Chief Lobbyist for Pacific Gas & Electric, where he led the State Government Relations function, including the development and strategy of legislative policy. He also has been a director at the California Public Utilities Commission, responsible for the operations of the Office of Governmental Affairs and served as the liaison to the Governor’s Office and state agencies. Kauss has significant energy-related expertise in state government and state agency policy and strategy.

Kauss sits on the board of the VetFund Foundation. He holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
