John Carney

John Carney has dedicated their career to improving education through the use of technology. John began their career in the communications department of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America, where they quickly introduced desktop publishing, database tools, and other technologies. John was soon promoted to Director of IT, where they led the transition from a centralized terminal system to an IBM AS400 client server solution with desktop PC's. John also led the requirements definition, procurement, and implementation of a new association software management system. After leaving IIAA, John went on to start their own company, Carney Inc., which provided software consulting services to educational organizations. John later joined the Tanzania Education Fund Inc., where they helped create a program that provided laptops and software to schools in Tanzania. John is currently the Chair at SOUTHERN REGIONAL EDUCATION BOARD, where they continue to work towards their goal of improving education through technology.

John Carney attended North Carolina State University, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications/PR.
