Samuel Tanner is an experienced scientist specializing in organic chemistry with a focus on drug discovery and development. Currently serving as Scientist III at Southern Research since April 2016, Samuel has advanced from roles as Scientist I and II, managing Compound Management and the Dotmatics scientific informatics system while contributing to drug discovery programs. Prior to Southern Research, Samuel worked as a Process Chemist at BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, where responsibilities included planning organic syntheses for CMC projects. Experience also includes serving as an Analytical Chemist/NMR Spectroscopist at Avanti Polar Lipids and conducting research as a Graduate Student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, resulting in the development of novel compounds targeting cancer. Samuel holds a Master of Science degree in Organic Chemistry and Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science degrees in Chemistry.
