Jo Horrocks

Chief Resilience & Research Officer at Toka Tū Ake EQC

Jo Horrocks has a diverse work experience in the field of emergency management. They started their career in 2003 as a Project Manager at the Ministry of Health New Zealand, where they worked until 2006. They then joined the Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management as a Team Leader National Planning, from 2006 to 2013. Following that, they became a Principal Advisor Emergency Management at the same ministry, where they worked until 2019. Since 2019, Jo has been working at the Earthquake Commission (EQC), first as the Head of Resilience Strategy and Research and currently serving as the Chief Resilience & Research Officer.

Jo Horrocks completed a Ph.D in Earth Science at The University of Waikato from 1996 to 2000. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Oxford, studying from 1992 to 1995.
