Shawn Woodin

Shawn Woodin, Ed.D., serves as the President and CEO of Southern Scholarship Foundation since July 2016, overseeing 26 cooperative living houses that accommodate over 470 college students while managing fundraising, investments, grants, and budgets. Previously, Woodin held the position of Interim Executive Director at CCID: Community Colleges for International Development in 2015-2016, facilitating international exchange programs for community colleges, and served in various roles from Assistant National Director to National Director from 2008 to 2014, managing a significant annual budget. Earlier experiences include directing the Kenya Program for Indiana University School of Medicine, working as a Senior Planner for Alachua County BOCC, and roles in economic development and community planning with organizations like the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Peace Corps. Woodin holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Florida, a Master of Science in Political Science from Illinois State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Binghamton University.

Since 1955 Southern Scholarship Foundation has helped thousands of students with outstanding academic abilities, good character and financial need realize their dream of a college education. Qualified students attending Florida A&M University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida State University, Santa Fe College, Tallahassee Community College, or University of Florida are awarded scholarships in the form of rent-free, cooperative living housing adjacent to their campus. Beyond rent-free housing, SSF is a living and learning community. The cooperative living program fosters leadership and instills essential life, professional, and leadership skills.
