Joseph Feduska, PhD has a diverse range of scientific research experience spanning over a decade. Joseph currently works as a Research Scientist at SouthernBiotech. Prior to that, they held various roles at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, including Scientific Researcher and Lab Manager for the Tse Lab. During their time there, they focused on projects related to beta-cell phenotype and function in mice, as well as developing microparticle vaccination strategies for autoimmunity. Before that, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where they investigated the contribution of immature myeloid cells to bone fracture healing and developed gene therapy strategies for osteolytic malignancies. Joseph also held the role of Graduate Research Assistant, where they studied the role of the cell adhesion molecule ICAM-2 as a metastasis suppressor in neuroblastoma. Prior to their time at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, they worked as a Research Specialist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where they investigated the use of muscle-derived stem cells for lifespan improvement, the role of vascular endothelial growth factor in dystrophic muscle regeneration, and the identification and characterization of stem cells derived from human post-natal skeletal muscle.
Joseph Feduska, PhD received their B.A. in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame in the years 1999 to 2003. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Ph.D. in Cancer Cell Biology/Pharmacology & Toxicology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham between 2009 and 2014.
