Chris McWilliams has extensive work experience in the digital content and media industry. Chris started their career at The Irish Star on Sunday as a student journalist in 2005. Chris then worked at Paddy Power as a customer service representative before transitioning into roles such as web content manager, sports journalist, and online content manager. In 2012, Chris joined Sportsbet as an online content manager, where they focused on content creation, editorial work, and social media management. In 2014, they moved to Southern Cross Austereo as the executive producer of digital at Triple M, leading a team and spearheading digital content strategies across multiple brands. Chris later became the head of digital content and then the head of distribution and audience growth at Southern Cross Austereo, where they implemented innovative content strategies, managed key stakeholders, and played a crucial role in the acquisition of gaming publisher Press-Start.com.

Chris McWilliams attended Griffith College Dublin from 2002 to 2005, studying Journalism. However, Chris did not complete their degree. In 2024, Chris obtained a Mini MBA certification from the Australian Institute of Management.
