Justin Fries, P.E., DBIA

Justin Fries, P.E., DBIA has a strong background in engineering and project management. Justin is currently the Director of Engineering at Johnson Bros. Corporation within Southland Holdings LLC, where they oversee all in-house engineering and leads design-build pursuits. In this role, they are responsible for various tasks such as designing falsework and temporary shoring, form design, critical-pick analysis, and submittal processing for projects.

Prior to their current position, Justin worked as a Project Engineer at Dewberry from 2013 to 2016. There, they focused on structural engineering within the Transportation Services Group. Their responsibilities included designing bridges (Steel, Prestressed Concrete, Pedestrian), sign structures (Span, Cantilever, Butterfly, Mastarms), walls (MSE wall layout, CIP concrete cantilever, sheet pile, soldier pile, anchored), and box culverts. Justin was also in charge of plans production and calculations to ensure quality and accuracy.

Before joining Dewberry, Justin worked as a Structural Engineer at Keith and Schnars from 2008 to 2013.

Justin Fries, P.E., DBIA completed their education at the University of Florida from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree with a focus in Civil Engineering, specifically in Structures. In addition to their degree, Justin has obtained several professional certifications. Justin became a Professional Engineer (PE) certified by the Arkansas State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors in March 2019. Justin also holds the DBIA certification from the Design-Build Institute of America, which they obtained in June 2018. Furthermore, they are a licensed Professional Engineer certified by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers & Surveyors since May 2018, and by the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors since August 2017.
