Mike Smith

Mike Smith is a seasoned banking professional with over 30 years of experience in business development and strategic relationships. Currently serving as Senior Vice President and Head of Business Development and Strategic Relationships at SouthState Bank since May 2014, Mike has played a critical role in the start-up and strategic direction of the Franchise Finance practice following the merger with Atlantic Capital Bank in 2021. Prior experience includes leadership positions at SunTrust Bank, where Mike managed multiple loan programs, amounting to $500 million in commitments, and developed unique lending initiatives for franchisees and small businesses. Earlier career roles include sales and auditing positions at Coca-Cola Enterprises and Coopers & Lybrand, respectively. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Auburn University Harbert College of Business.
