Eddie Townsend

Eddie Townsend is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in public sector engagement and media relations. Currently serving as the Director of Communications, Engagement and Change at Southwark Council since August 2024, Eddie previously held key roles as Director of Communications and Head of Media at the London Borough of Waltham Forest from January 2018 to October 2024. Eddie's background includes serving as Head of Media for the City of London Police and a tenure in the press office of the Metropolitan Police. Eddie began a career in media relations at Merseyside Police from April 2006 to August 2007. Eddie holds a Master's degree in Marketing/Marketing Management from the University of Liverpool and a degree in Politics and Law from Liverpool John Moores University.
