Luis Garcia

Luis Garcia has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Luis is currently working at Southwest Research Institute as a Lead Engineer since October 2023. Prior to this, they held roles at the same company, including Senior Research Engineer from September 2021 to October 2023, and Research Engineer from November 2019 to September 2021.

Before joining Southwest Research Institute, Luis worked at CACI International Inc as a Software Engineer T3 from March 2012 to November 2019. Luis also worked as an Engineering Instructor at Rio Grande City High School, teaching PLTW (Project Lead The Way) from May 2010 to March 2012.

In addition to their engineering and research experience, Luis also has experience in the software industry, having worked as an Embedded Controls Test Engineer at LHP Software (Cummins Inc.) from August 2008 to August 2009.

Luis also has experience working in the fast-food industry, as a Fast Food Team Member at Whataburger from August 2003 to August 2008.

Luis Garcia attended The University of Texas at San Antonio from 2003 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Luis also holds additional certifications, including a Certified TestStand Developer certification from National Instruments obtained in February 2014, and a Texas Educator Certificate from the Alternate Certification Program RGV obtained in August 2011.
