Established in 1961, Southwestern College is one of 113 public community colleges in the state of California and the only institute of higher education located in the southern portion of San Diego County. Serving approximately 20,000 students every semester, Southwestern College offers more than 320 associate degree and certificate options.

The current leadership team at Southwestern College comes from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The team includes a Dean, School of Social Sciences, Arts & Media, an Academic Senate President, and a Tenured Professor, Accounting and Business, as well as a Chief Financial Officer. All members of the team have received their education from either Capella University or California State University-San Bernardino.
