John Machir has extensive work experience in the social services field. John started their career as a Director of Social Services at Willow Point Nursing Home. John then moved on to Tioga Opportunities, Inc., where they served as the Director of Aging. Following that, they worked as a Therapeutic Staff Support at Tri-County Human Services, Inc. Later, they joined KVC Behavioral Healthcare as a Family Support Worker, providing in-home services to individuals with behavioral and mental health issues. John then worked as a Supervisor for the Mountain State Healthy Families program at TEAM for West Virginia Children, where they developed partnerships and provided parenting instruction. Prior to their current role, they worked as an ASO Case Manager at Necco.org, providing support services to families. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Homeless Services for Mason & Jackson Counties, West Virginia at Southwestern Community Action Council, Inc. throughout their career, they have focused on serving vulnerable populations and developing community resources.

John Machir attended Brigham Young University from 1985 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Family Science. In July 2000, they also obtained a Geriatric Scholar Certificate from the Consortium of New York Geriatric Education Centers.
