Chief Diversity, Equity And Inclusion Officer at Southwire

Cara Herzog, CDE, has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Starting in 2007, they worked as a Personal Intern to Representative Clay Cox at the Georgia State Capital, where they attended committee hearings, researched legislation, and edited documents. In 2008, they became a Grant Coordinator for Early Intervention at Carrollton City Schools, engaging at-risk youth and securing funding for an additional school year. Cara then served as a Media Relations Intern at the American Red Cross South Eastern Division in 2007, where they designed a blood drive theme and updated media contact lists.

In 2009, Herzog joined Carroll County Chamber of Commerce as the Director of Member Services and Development. Cara increased membership significantly, developed the organization of Carroll County Young Professionals, and managed social media for the Chamber. Later, they transitioned to Southwire Company, where they held multiple positions. As the Human Resources Specialist, they developed action plans, facilitated coaching sessions, analyzed exit survey data, and designed interview guides. In their subsequent role as Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, they developed and implemented a three-year DEI strategy and established the organization's first DEI Center of Excellence. Cara then served as the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion before being promoted to the role of Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

Cara Herzog, CDE has a Chief Diversity Executive degree from The Institute for Diversity Certification, specializing in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Cara also holds a Regional Economic and Leadership Development degree from the Georgia Academy for Economic Development, focusing on Economic Development. Additionally, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of West Georgia. Cara has acquired various certifications including HR Transformation Certificate Program from eCornell, Korn Ferry 360 Certification and Emotional Intelligence Certification from Korn Ferry, KornFerry Leadership Architect from Korn Ferry, Project Management Certification from the Project Management Institute, Beyond Benchmarking from Barry-Wehmiller, and HBDI from Herrmann International.
